RIPS IPS LCD v4 for Game Boy

The screen works great, install was easy. The only problem I have is that the included screen frame to hold it in place is not snug on the screen, and it holds the screen in the view port slightly crooked.

I'm sure this is not a problem with every kit, but my kit's frame doesn't quite line up the screen right. The screen is adjustable, but it can't fix a slight canted angle unfortunately. You can see the bottom right is slightly higher than the left, and the top right is leaning away from the border.

Not a huge deal, but do wish the included frame was snug and square.

Decently easy to replace. Well worth the money.
My dad gave me his old gameboy that he took with him to desert storm. It was missing the screen protector and the contrast wheel was extremely sensitive.
I tried powering it on recently and the screen was just one solid color. When I opened it up the control board was corroded very badly. This kit provided everything I needed to get my gameboy back to how it’s supposed to be but also with some much needed newer improvements.

I'm very happy with the ips lcd (RIPS v4) Its on a different level. It makes the gameboy dmg look like a new and modern hand held console.
I suggest it to everyone who wont to refurbish their old gameboy dmg. I love it! ❤️

was given a very nasty non working dmg gameboy for free, after getting it to turn on again i found out the screen was too far gone, so i decided to give it an IPS screen. it looks SO much nicer than the original

I picked up a DMG with a broken screen on the super cheap and as I already have a few in my collection, I figured why not go all out on a custom for me to play some games on. This screen is dramatically better than the original! Lot's of different brightnesses, several different colors and nice crisp visuals. You get so much more than just a screen with the new front mainboard. I added a new purple shell and a brand new speaker at the same time so it feels like a totally new device. Install was super easy and took hardly any time. Can't wait to do another one!

Although I tried ordering the kit with the speaker already soldered onto the board, there were none in stock and I was able to do it simply with a cheap soldering iron from Amazon. Install looked overwhelming when first opening the package, as there are no instructions what-so-ever, but youtube fixed that. This was my first console mod I had ever done. Battery usage is much higher, but overall I'm extremely happy with the final product. Bring on the oldies!

This kit is perfect. With the 3d printed bracket everything went together perfectly and without hassle. Worked first try. The screen quality is literally a night and day difference in quality and ease of actually seeing what you're doing. Wicked good kit, thanks!

Just installed the V3 screen in my DMG, love it. So simple to fit and get up and running and looks so bright and clear, its what the game boy should have been made with if it was possible at the time.
Also used the transparent purple case with mint buttons. Everything works very well together.

IPS was package perfectly. Very protected. No issues at all, I just installed yesterday and it looks awesome. My first time modding and it was very enjoyable

I saw this kit on youtube and was excited about this. Retro modding is a very reliable shop and good service and I will recommend the shop. We actually need a shop like this in the EU that sels this kit. With all the taxes that I had to pay to the dutch authorities, it became quite expensive (another €20,- extra above the bill of the product with the sipping costs, because it came outside the EU). But was it worth it? YES. It was easy to implement and replace the parts, and the results are stunning. The gameboy is more usable without loosing it authentic looks. On a technical way it is absolutely the best upgrade ever seen. It is even possible to play games more or less in color. Whell, it actually replaces the diverent types of grey into diverent colors that are free adjustable, whatever you want. The screen itselves is fullcolor. Also the backlite is perfect. Do I recomend this upgrade. Absolutely yes If you are planning to play with the gameboy once in a while.

Very happy for improving the usability of my original Gameboy in a way that my little boy is so proud to play on it. He is also in no way unhappy for having a gameboy instead of a Switch

First mod I’ve done and went well. I sanded the shell screen opening wider instead of cutting it. I also just had to solder the two wires of the speaker. Well worth it to be able to play my gameboy at night clear as day!

This mod was very easy, I love that I can bring my old game boy back to life and give it some more hours of playtime.

I didn’t have the screen exactly square, so I had to remove display from the bracket after it had been taped. I was nervous about causing damage after having to handle it so much but there was none. It didn’t ship with printed instructions but there are plenty on YouTube.
