PSIO is a development cartridge that plugs into the PlayStation's parallel I/O port and allows you to run software from an SD card on your PS hardware. It's the ultimate developer tool and an invaluable asset for debugging.

Please note that this is not a plug-and-play product. In order for PSIO to work with your system, you need to install a switch board on your mainboard. PSIO will not work on systems without a parallel I/O port.

Breathe life into your PSX

The process is pretty straightforward to install the switch, and even if you have only a small amount of experience you should be good to go. The hardware itself is pretty reliable and easy to use. Retromodding takes care of the infamous serial registration process that PSIO is known for, which was very nice. If you can install the switch board without issue than the firmware installation should pose no challenge, and once it’s up and going it’s a treat to use. I’ve played through several RPGs since installing and haven’t been let down at all.
