If you're planning to give your Game Boy Advance SP a makeover with a new shell or if your SP has started to flop due to faulty hinges, these replacement axles are just what you need. Simply remove the broken hinges, transfer the plastic caps onto the replacement barrels, and slide them into the hinge hole on the console's housing.

Features

  • Ideal for reshelling your GBA SP in a new aftermarket shell
  • Simple snap-in installation
  • Includes left and right barrel hinge

Included

  • 2 x GBA SP hinges / axles

Notes

  • The Aftermarket (Better Feel) option is easier to install and has a more satisfying closing snap. Build with a flat metallic part where the hinge cover slides on.
  • Remember to place the plastic cap on the hinges before inserting them into the shell
  • Ensure the grooves are properly lined up before beginning the installation process
  • You may need to apply some force to snap the hinges into place. Make sure you protect the shell and the LCD before applying force on the unit
  • It is recommended that you keep your original hinges for use in genuine shells or in clear third party SP shells since there may be some compatibility issues with this item
  • This is an aftermarket product and may not feel identical to its genuine counterpart

Hinges did NOT fit

I scoured youtube and reddit to see if I was putting them in wrong but they did not go in (I did make sure the "key" was lined up as well). I just reused my OEM hinges which actually fit like a glove in the IPS ready shell. Everything else I bought though was great so if you were to put together a kit I would skip the hinge purchase.

Didn't fit at all

I recently modded my GBA SP with a lot of products off of here, and the hinges just wouldn't slide in or fit the shell I purchased at all. I tried changing one halfs position, as well as brute forcing them in in both positions, but they wouldn't fit at all on either side, and I didn't want to risk damaging the new shell since I was already putting in a LOT of pressure. I'm not sure if this was an issue with the hinges or from me, but I was able to get the original OEM hinges in with no issues at all. For now, these will sit in a box until I work on another one or someone else I know works on one
