IPS LCD for Game Boy Advance SP

An amazing upgrade and big difference from the OEM display. I've logged quite a few hours already and haven't noticed any tearing, dead pixels, etc.

One thing to look out for is the shell you put it in. This has nothing to do with the display, but some cases, like mine, will leave spaces between the screen and the shell, even after modifying the shell. For me it was very minor and I cant even tell unless I look for it.

The optional dimmer wire is a nice touch, however, I found the brightness to be perfectly fine the way it came, so I didn't install mine.

Only wish it had a logo on it other than that 1 million percent upgrade

Works extremely well and was really easy to install! Only thing I wish it came with is a piece of double sided tape and some sort of insulator for the back of it. But nonetheless it works amazingly. The only thing I suggest is if you like the depth of the original screen I wouldn't get this as it appears as a modern screen. Would reccomend apart from that.

I have had my two gameboy advance SPs since I was a child, and I want d to begin a new hobby, so I tried out upgrading one of my systems with a new screen. The instructions provided on the box QR code we’re clear and easy to understand. I had a shell I bought to replace the original, but didn’t like the quality so I used it as the practice shell for trimming to make the screen fit properly. The replacement turned out great! I’ve already ordered a new shell and buttons and I can’t wait to fully assemble my first custom gameboy advance SP. I will definitely be choosing Retro Modding again when I’m ready to work on my second system!

The installation process is not too hard if you already have a pre-cut shell. The Ips screen looks great and is definitely much brighter than the original ags-001 screen I had in there.

Hardest part was trimming the plastic she'll, kit itself mis awesome, jus tneeded to solder one wore and then now j have a super bright but dimmable screen that's 5X brighter then the nintendo screen

Was a little nervous about soldering the wire to the ribbon cable and the board as it was my first time, thankfully everything turned out ok. Now my GBA SP feels brand new !

The lens on the screen I received was crooked, causing the screen to look crooked after installation. The screen tilts up and to the right. The quality of the image is great though.

Edit: Customer Support was very helpful in helping me get a replacement, hopefully it will work out.

Overall the screen is great, straight-forward in setting up, and the screen looks crisp. Some shell trimming is required depending on the shell. So I recommend buying a shell from retro modding so you have little to no issues in shell compatibility.

Dropped right in, looks more beautiful than I imagined!

Easy to install with only 1 wire to solder. Screen looks crisp but the GBA screen cover that came with it did not match it's actual size. It was just a little to small but since it's for an SP model I simply removed it. The clam shell style will still protect it.

This shell has great quality, the glass lens fits my gba sp great, the ips screen brings new life into this old game would highly recommend all the parts from Retro Modding

Best and easiest kit on market to put in whatever gba sp you want like a slate to a brand new shell it works like a charm

Screen looks great and feels really high quality. Do note that it doesn't have the logo on the bottom.

With multiple brightness settings and a crisp screen this is the best upgrade for the SP. I would not play a non IPS SP ever again the difference is that drastic.

The vibrance of color is fantastic. I have an old original that I had side by side and the difference is striking! The install was pretty easy. I think my only complaint is that the brightness adjuster needs to be soldered (and must be unsoldered to remove the screen later, I think?), but that's not anything you can mark this product down for, it's a characteristic of Nintendo's design. (and frankly, it's pretty amazing that modders have found this as an option, so there's really no complaint to be had).
