it still working

so far I'm not complaining. but wish to point out that you can use the OG motherboard with USB C upgrade and the funny playing IPS. it might be a tight fit but it still manageable. but this shell is more suited for the FP motherboard. you can still use old button and membrane from the old console. but cheaper to get new set of button.

Quirks ahead

1. Flash Cart? Move along. This system doesn't play them well. EZ-Flash will do better on another model.
2. They're not messing around with "this isn't a beginner project." While highly modularized and solder free, take the warnings well. (Make sure power is OFF before attaching the battery, baby the heck out of the battery and screen until installed, and esp. the screen: make sure you're on the right side of the ZIF socket and the wire harness is completely slotted in.)
3. I had a problem with buttons. While Sel Start B and A are all fine, the D-Pad is hard to get going well. Tried different button pads, that $2 ring they sell to sit in the D-Pad bulb inside, different degrees of screw tension, and nothing helps. The motion is stiff and not as sensitive as a Game Boy.

It was fun, but after destroying the first kit and buying a second one, I'm probably going to lean on another answer. GBAs are still on Amazon for cheap. Reshelling and upgrading them is more consistent in results. Maybe I just suck. 🤷‍♀️
